Charades: use gestures

YOUR QUICK HOST PLAN
Gather four or more players into two teams, and bring paper, pencils, scissors, and a timer. The plan includes setup and changing players; quick guesses can make it shorter. Adjust the timing together before you start.
SET UP
Cut out the cards and shuffle the charades and drawing piles separately. Choose the first actor and agree on what counts as a close-enough guess.
ACT / 60-SECOND TURNS
Give each team three turns, alternating teams and actors. Only the actor sees the card. A correct guess ends the turn.
DRAW / 90-SECOND TURNS
Give each team three drawing turns. Keep the card private and the paper visible. Use a fresh area for each new idea.
WRAP UP
Add the six turns in each team's score column, for up to six points per team. If tied, celebrate a draw or agree on one extra turn per team using blank cards.
PRINTED-CARD RULES
Choose one person to act or draw for their team. They read a card privately, then start the timer when ready. Everyone on their team can guess.
Act out the idea without speaking, making sounds, mouthing words, or spelling. Seated gestures work too. Agree on any house-rule changes before both teams begin.
Sketch on paper or a whiteboard without letters, numbers, or spoken clues. A few simple shapes are enough. This kit and the online drawing game do not include a digital canvas.
Prefer a cooperative game? Rotate players and try to solve six cards together. Keep the timer flexible and skip the team totals.
A TASTE OF THE CARDS
These examples appear in the PDF. Try them together, then keep the rest of the cards hidden from the guessers.
CHARADES
Show the imaginary cake starting to lean, then try to keep it steady.
DRAWING
Start with a spiral shell and add a little triangular hat.
